Naish SUP Team Starts 2018 Race Season with Podiums in Hawaii and Holland

Casper Steinfath wins first stop of The Eurotour at Battle of the Coast in Holland

Casper Steinfath kicked off the 2018 race season winning the sprint and finishing second in the technical races at the Battle of the Coast in Holland, the first stop of the 2018 Eurotour.

The Eurotour runs for 10 weeks featuring 10 different races across eight countries throughout Europe. Drawing Europes fastest paddlers, the Eurotour brings the European SUP community together linking together various races each weekend.

Casper was stoked to once again be on the starting line with his Naish Maliko. Commented Casper: “It was awesome stepping back into the competition arena and matching up against Europe’s finest at the first stop of the 2018 Euro Tour. Since completing the Viking Crossing almost 2 months ago I have spent many hours training on my Maliko, so I was stoked to get this preseason chance to test the fruits of my training.”

Bernd Roediger and Annie Reickert both on the podium at Paddle Imau Charity Race in Hawaii

The racing season is officially underway in Hawaii with back to back weekends consisting of conditions that separated those who spent the offseason training and those who did not.

Both Naish’s Bernd Roediger and Annie Reickert clearly put in the hours in the water this winter and it showed this weekend at the Bluesmith’s Paddle Imua. Bernd showed that he’s more than just a downwind specialist with a third-place finish in the men’s 14′ stock class. Annie, who also beat most of the unlimited racers with a third overall in an extremely challenging Olukai Ho’olaule’a, made another big statement winning the women’s 14′ stock class.

The Paddle Imua is about much more than just racing though as it is an opportunity for the paddling community to come together to support Imua Family Services and Camp Imua which provides services for special needs children in Maui.
